Where did this come from?

In the fall of 1999, as I was still enraptured by internet jokes, I sent some concerning Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to some friends.  Then, when the annual Torah reading cycle started up again with Genesis, I sent them jokes about Creation.  The portion concerning Noah was the following week, and it was easy to find pertinent jokes for that as well.  I wondered if I’d be able to find jokes pertinent to all the Torah portions (weekly and holiday), so I started doing that.  Then I realized I needed to include some comments so readers would know why I was including, say, jokes about circumcision or matchmaking, so I added a little commentary.  Usually, that’s just a somewhat irreverent summary of the portion.  Sometimes I include personal comments and stories as well.

I hope you get as much out of reading TPH as I do writing it.
