About Irene Greenwald Plotzker

I was a research chemist and then a patent agent at a large company in Wilmington, Delaware, from which I retired in November, 2012.  This blog simply contains my musings on the weekly and holiday Torah portions and a selection of appropriate jokes to go with them.  I have been told this is entertaining.

Thank you. Humor has been said to be a great teacher, perhaps because it is hard to resist while laughing, or maybe because almost all jokes are rooted in pain and suffering, the other way we pay attention. Rather interesting to compare beside Ki Tavo?

  2. Hi, Irene. I enjoyed your Ki Tavo post (especially the recovering from the Torah portion part). Am trying to recall the Torah portion that was chanted in a low voice because of the curses. Could this be the same one? Also, thanks for including my Evil Eye essay in the Forward.
Blessings for a great new year,

      Hi Ruchama,
      Glad you liked it!
Yes, it’s Ki Tavo, with 53 verses read in an undertone, rapidly.
I couldn’t include your entire essay for space reasons, but I enjoyed the whole thing and hope readers went to the link for it.
      L’shana tova,

Is the picture used on the opening page from Killarney?
